I took off my glasses and gained the world. All of the sudden, nature was freed from the rimmed framing of lenses and the world seemed higher and wider than I’d seen for years. The Vision Walk opened up a wild clarity of sight. Movement was everywhere: in the world passing by as I walked; in the cat that scurries ahead of me; in the leaves of every tree, even different movement on branches of the same tree. Colors vary in and out of the sunlight, from the top to the bottom of a leaf, from plant to plant. Sharp leaves next to rough bark next to thick waxy leaves are just the beginning of the variety of textures newly visible to me, not to mention the wealth of shapes, spaces, or depth. Vision lessons have brought me a new delight in nature that I passed by far too quickly before.
And my clarity continues to unfold in its own speed.
